How to wash your hair the right way

Posted by Lynn Power on

When it comes to haircare, most of us think we’ve got shampooing down pat. Wet, lather, rinse, repeat — right? Not quite. At MASAMI, we believe in mindful, intentional beauty. And yes, that starts with how you wash your hair.

Our clean, premium haircare is powered by Mekabu — a nutrient-rich ocean botanical that infuses your hair with lightweight hydration, strength, and shine. But to get the most out of MASAMI, technique matters.

Here’s how to wash your hair the right way — MASAMI style.

Step 1: Start With a Thorough Rinse

Before reaching for the shampoo, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm (not hot!) water for 30–60 seconds. This helps open up the cuticle, loosens product buildup, and preps your hair to absorb all the goodness MASAMI delivers.

Step 2: Use Less Than You Think

MASAMI is low-foaming and ultra-concentrated — a little truly goes a long way. Start with a dime-sized amount of shampoo (yes, really). Add a little water to emulsify it between your hands before applying to your scalp. If you’re used to sudsy formulas, you might expect big bubbles. But don’t worry — low foam doesn’t mean low performance.

Why low foam? Because we leave out harsh sulfates and unnecessary fillers. MASAMI cleanses without stripping — leaving your hair balanced, not squeaky-clean (aka dry and damaged).

Step 3: Focus on the Scalp

Healthy hair starts at the roots. Massage the shampoo gently into your scalp using your fingertips (not your nails). Think of it as a mini scalp massage to boost circulation and remove oil and buildup. Let the suds naturally cleanse the lengths as you rinse — no need to scrub your strands.

Step 4: Rinse Fully and Repeat (if Needed)

Rinse thoroughly. If you’ve used a lot of styling products or haven’t washed your hair in a while, go in for a second light shampoo. The second cleanse will lather a bit more and leave your scalp feeling extra refreshed. But most of us don't need a second round, once is usually enough.

Step 5: Condition from Mid-Lengths to Ends

Apply MASAMI conditioner generously from the mid-lengths to ends of your hair — where hydration is most needed. Leave it in for 2–3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticle and boost shine.

Pro Tips for Better Results:

  • Less is more: Using too much product won't give you better results — it just wastes product. Our concentrated formulas are designed to work efficiently.

  • Detangle gently: Use a wide-tooth comb in the shower while conditioning to reduce breakage and evenly distribute product.

  • Stay consistent: MASAMI's benefits build over time. With regular use, your hair will feel stronger, softer, and more manageable.

Final Thought

Beautiful hair doesn’t start in a bottle — it starts with knowledge. Washing your hair the right way allows MASAMI’s clean, nutrient-rich formulas to do their best work.
